I change my every 3k-4k miles. Always use Mobil 1 Synthetic. Took the valve cover off several months ago and looks beautiful no sludge nothing at all.
Recently got my 2nd oil analysis from Blackstone Labs and below are the results.
JOHN: Wear looks good in the first sample from your Saab. Universal averages for the 2.0L are based on
an oil run of ~5,300 miles. Silicon was an odd find at 18 ppm. It may show the need for a fresh air filtration
but as wear looks good we doubt that's the case. It is used in a small amount in this type of oil as an
additive and that's likely what we're seeing here. We'll be sure to keep an eye on it next time. No harmful
contaminants were found. Insolubles (oil oxidation due to heat, use and blow-by) were low at 0.3%, showing
good oil filtration. Looks good at 108,555 miles.
