I ran a comparison a few years ago on my '99 9³ using recirc valves. I'm told a BOV for T5 engines should be OK, & probably any BOV will be safe from "pulling in" dirt during idle (see my verification test in the data). Personally, I wouldn't use a BOV simply because Saab designed the boost system for a recirculating DV. But that's just me...
