With batteries, the number of cells, plate thickness, electrode attachement, etc are all a consideration. Cold cranking amps is a good comparision rating. At Sears, for example, you can buy several different batteries with different capacities for more or less money (not for Saabs though, they have one model). You need to compare the Costco battery capacity with the others.
I used to deal with Sears in another industry. They were very specific about what they wanted and had their own set of specs. The products we manufactured for them were actually better than our own name brand in quality. It was worth it to run separate lines for them with better quality materials because they were a huge customer.
So likewise, Costco might be telling them "give us a battery we can sell for $60". In that case the would cut corners to produce it.
However, I will say that with a lot of products, you just pay more for longer warranty products even though the product is the same. So, pricing could come down to warranty in some cases.
