Thanks for the quick feedback.
I think Code P0340 is the only code now. In fact, it's the only code that this car has ever shown (it was intermittent for a couple months, then when it came on permanently I decided to stop living dangerously and replace the DIC.)
I did change the plugs when I did the DIC, and used the NGK BCPR7ES-11 spec plug. I used that plug b/c that what my manual says to use, it's the consensus on the boards that I've read, and was also the same as the ones I removed. I'm not expert, but I did check the gaps on the new four plugs and they were ok. (Incidentally, the old plugs were light gray color, gaps still ok, and the threads were a bit oily - all normal I think.)
One more question: re: the "shower of sparks" that the DIC performs when you turn the ignition off. Should that be audible?
I could not hear it on my old DIC. I don't recall hearing it for the first 10 days of the new DIC. Now it is a loud buzzing, like a faint door buzzer but is audible both inside and outside the vehicle.
If that is not normal, then perhaps that DIC is indeed failing after only 10 days.
