I'm pretty sure that a Miata has a more conventional clutch slave. Your Saab has a clutch slave that's located down inside the bellhousing. There's a tube coil running up to the little block that you see, with the bleed valve.
But the miata.net procedure seems the same as what I said, with the piece of wood substituting for the helper. The advantage is the clutch slave is actually being worked. That in turn will work fluid up & down through the line inside the Saab bellhousing.
Constantly keeping the reservoir filled isn't very difficult. Every couple strokes, you need to look down inside. My point is that it isn't reliable to look thru the translucent side of the reservoir. You'll see it mostly full, but the walled-off part for the clutch can be empty & you don't see that.
I don't have any basis for criticizing any of these methods. I have a feeling they'll all work. Which one will work better ????
