I used a wire tap on the cigarette lighter wire behind the fuse box on my 1999 9-3. My radar detector is mounted near the review mirror so I just stuffed the wire between the a-pillar and the windshield on the vertical and under the ceiling liner and windshield on the horizontal. My friend was so impressed with my set up since you can't see the wires he wanted me to help him duplicate it in his Acura. I could tell he was disappointed to find out that all I did was stuff the wires behind the fascia around the windshield.
The only panel I removed was the one under the steering wheel to get better access behind the fuse box.
