I just repaired the entire drivers side suspension on my 99 9-3 w/160K miles.
It was the first time I had to remove the tie rod end. I sprayed it with a penetrating oil a couple of times making sure to get the clamping bolt good with it. I then just used a breaker bar to get that bolt loose and took that out completely. Then I used a big pair of channel locks to back the end off the threads of the tie rod. It wasn't too hard, you just have to give the penetrating oil time to loosen things up. Hit it with the oil when you get home, then again before you go to bed. Should be good to go in the morning.
