This is not that hard of a job. The companion flang comes out fairly easy. Just turn it and pull, a short pry bar or solid flat srewdriver works.. just make sure it is centered in the hole. ALso be sure to drain the gear oil first or be ready to catch about 1 liter of oil as it will come out when you pull the companion flange. Force is not your friend here. Turn the flange (trans in neutral) and a little bit of force works fine.
