Transmission or clutch problem? Posted by Dan [Email] (#2459) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Dan) on Sun, 15 Aug 2010 15:52:10 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm hoping someone can help point me in the right direction. I have a 1999 9-3 that will not engage in any gear. Problems started when I was accelerating onto the highway, and it popped out of gear. It then would not go into any gear without grinding while the engine was running. I finally turned off the engine, bumped started it in 1st gear and limped home. At home I put it in reverse to see if I could "unstick" whatever might be stuck, and it seemed to work as I could now put it into 1st normally. It then felt like the clutch was slipping, and eventually it would not propel the car at all.
Now I can move the shifter into any gear, with or without the clutch pedal pressed, but nothing happens. The shifter linkage does have a crack in the plastic, but it does move when the shifter is moved and it moves the rod going into the tranny.
Any thoughts as to what could be the problem? Transmission or clutch? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
