The connection is broken at the antenna motor, not where it exits the body. I don't know that I would really care if the trunk carpeting got a bit damp or water rolled down under the spare tire sits. How much water could really get into the antenna in the first place? The space seems pretty small and even when I had NO antenna for two weeks with a couple of heavy rains and did not find any water today.
