Try starting fluid spray first. If that starts it you probably have a fuel problem.
Since it suddenly chugged and stopped it could just be a loose intercooler hose.
The only way to know you are getting spark is to remove the cassette, put spark plugs in the sockets, ground the spark plugs with wire and see the lightning while you crank it. If you have your spark plugs out, you may as well do a compression test.
