Tonneau cover hits top- trying to diagnose (2003 9-3) Posted by Henry Helfman [Email] (#787) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Henry Helfman) on Fri, 1 Apr 2011 10:34:48 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My Tonneau cover lightly interferes with the front lip of my convertible top going up/down. Otherwise top operation seems to be fine. The car is new to me (as 9-3s are) and I'm handy. I haven't pulled anything apart to check yet.
I have found a lot of posts describing the same problem I am having, however most seem to be on the earlier cars and since mine is a 2003 and I know hardware changed around 1999, I wanted to know if those commonly known weak points still applied to my later NG900/9-3.
* Does my later car have a hydraulically driven tonneau cover which could be related to the issue?
* Should I perform the hinge reinforcement or is that issue mainly with the earlier cars?
* Do I likely need an adjustment requiring a TechII?
* Is it possible this is only caused by a broken/worn U-joint or twisted Tonneau shaft?
Thanks
Henry Helfman
