If you don't want to spend $300.00 without knowing it takes care of the problem, you instead have to do the legwork on measuring your way to find the culprit.
You can read through all posts (and do the tests) from MontereyAero when he decided to measure his way to rule in or out the gear selector switch instead of just replacing it. The 9-5 starting system is essentially the same as the 02 9-3
That will pin point if you have that problem or not.
I'm fairly sure that's what the problem is as long as the battery cable nut is tight on the starter. But that problem should have been taken care of long ago by the shop that service your car.
