Drove from FL to NC late March. No problems. Car sat for about 3 weeks. When I went to start, it began to crank normal, but then the cranking sound changed suddenly. I left it and took another vehicle. Now looking into the problem and need help.
CPS and Fuel pump tested fine.
Plugs appear to indicate rich conditions.
Pulled valve/cam cover - everything turns as it should (the sound made me think low compression, possible timing chain issue)
Swapped out DI with a brand new T7 DI to test, same result. Have not checked for spark yet.
Odd thing - after cranking 5 - 10 seconds, I will get the back pressure pop that occurrs occasionally w/ sport exhaust. Did something find a home in exhaust? I'd still think a cylinder would ignite. Same with an intake blockage.
I think the key may be the change in sound of the starter.
Car was still averaging 27+ mpg, ran fine.
Appreciate any thoughts and suggestions.
Steve
