I do as much of my own work as possible and am unashamed to post results of my own failures in an effort to prevent others from making the same mistakes. The local Saab Specialist shop has come to my rescue multiple times.
#4 cylinder is on the far left (driver's side in North American market cars) and other postings have said this cylinder is the most prone to suffer affects from low oil pressure.
Noise after a hard acceleration run could be a blown off hose somewhere so it may not be as bad as you fear. I had bad engine performance twice after hard acceleration runs, once was a blown hose and once was a partially disconnected DIC harness. (Oops, guess I forgot to latch the locking clip properly)
