Saab's Clever Problem Indicators Posted by Roger_S [Email] (#2723) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Roger_S) on Thu, 6 Jul 2023 15:57:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Years ago I discovered that if the dash lights go out in a 1974 Saab 99 then it is an idicator that the tail lights are out. I was pulled over by a cop who spotted me driving on a Seattle freeway with no tail lights! I quickly discovered that one of the fuses in box under the hood had blown.
Fortunately I had spare fuses in my glove box and one of them was the replacement for the one that had blown. I thanked the cop profusely for stopping me and was on my way without getting ticketed.
Some years later I discovered that if the windshild wipers didn't work on my (current) 1995 900S then the oil pressure sensor was kaput.
I wonder if there is a list (by Saab model) of such clever, built-in indicators of failed modules that would otherwise not be immediately recognized?
