Clutch Adjustment

Wanted to follow up on a problem I had posted earlier. It might save someone out there a few hundred dollars.
I was having a great deal of difficulty shifing my 95 SET (52k miles). It was pretty obvious that the clutch was not disengaging properly. After some posts here, and discussions with friends and mechanics I was left with a number of possibly causes. Eventually I let the local Saab tech look at it. He wanted over $500 to replace a "rusted bushing" on the throwout bearing (along with a new cable). Good thing he didn't have the parts in stock.
Suspecting the cable adjustment, I looked up the cable instructions in a repair manual. There were no adjustment instructions, but I followed the final step of the installation procedure (basically just grabbed the boot and pulled it forwad. Didn't spend a dime or turn one wrench.
It's been shifting smooth as butter for a couple of weeks now. My only guess is that I freed up the self adjusting mechanism in the cable. Give it a try before you fork over $500 to your "Saab expert technician."
