I've had a somewhat similar experience in NG900S. DTE drops 10-15 miles as I pass a specific spot on freeway then gradually get back the "lost" miles. In your case, I'd be suspicious of a bad ground connection. DOes problem happen as you go over a bump or similar? In another make, it was not unusual to see fuel gauge go to empty and temperature go to red maximum then soon after return to normal. Pulled the dash and checked the ground connectors and problem went away.
