When I was working on my '69 Opel GT, Chrome Yellow of course, I was refitting the fly wheel, and used a torque wrench for the first time, instead of working by feel. The Opel service manual listed a torque in ft-lbs, and I twisted the dam thing off!
Sorry dude, just a typo eh?
And it was not easy locating a high strength metric bolt in those days to replace it. And no, it was not fun getting the busted end out of the crank shaft. (Getting the trasmission shaft pilot bearing out of the crankshaft was also mission impossible.)
I also was torquing the head bolts on a Vovlo B20, and one did not feel right. It just was not building up torque. So I pulled it out, and the threads had necked down a lot! That bolt is still probably in the trophy case at the U of Watterloo materials lab.
