The battery is a SAAB battery that the dealer replaced under warranty about 3 1/2 years ago. The service advisor at the time said that there were problems with the batteries from Sweden as they didn't do well in the heat here and the cell walls went bad.
The guy from AAA who came to jump it said that batteries normally last about five years, but since we're in Texas (Houston) they tend not to last that long. He said the water level looked fine except for two being a little low. He also said maintenance free batteries were "junk".
Also, I didn't have any accessories on or doors open when I was working on it. I did think it was odd about a month ago I was sitting in the car listening to the radio & CD player when, after about 50 minutes, everything shut down due to low charge (it was not the auto off feature in the stereo b/c it was less than an hour).
Thanks again for your input!
