So last night I was driving home from NYC (about 24 highway miles), and towards the end of the drive as I got off the highway and onto city streets, I noticed a hideous noise coming from my engine compartment of my 1995 Saab 900S with 58,200 miles; automatic transmission. I pulled into the nearest parking lot (under a street light so I could see) and I popped open the hood with the engine still running. The sound *seems* to be coming from inside the combustion chambers (???), and sounds almost like something is gurgling or bubbling. But it is not nearly as frequent as, say, a pot on a stove at a rolling boil. To some it could also be described as a "popping." This noise remains the same regardless of gear-selector position (automatic transmission), and it seems like it stay relatively the same regardless of engine speed. I first thought the noise was a timing belt issue, but the sound is more "liquid." Now I know that this is not me being neurotic; there is clearly some problem that needs to be fixed. I let the car sit overnight and I ran it again this morning, but the same exact thing happened again. My only guess is that it's a gas issue, because I recently ran two bottles of Techron Concentrate, and after I ran that tank I then filled up with Sunoco 94 (ninety-FOUR) octane gasoline. I asked for premium, and he filled it up with really-really-really-premium. However, I have run 94 (ninety-FOUR) octane gasoline before, with no problems. I also thought maybe running the Techron stuff put a lot of crap into the oil, so I checked the oil, but it looked normal. It wasn't completely translucent, it was dark, and it almost looked greenish when I first wiped it on a rag. The oil was changed last June at approxamitely 54,000 miles. So, come on guys, help! I am very low on cash, and I need to know what's wrong. Sorry for the vague description. Thank you all so much!
