Well, I really boneheaded this one.
Last weekend I took a slip of paper with NGK BCPR6ES-11 writen on it to the auto parts store. Gave it to the clerk. Took the plugs home, gapped and installed them WITHOUT double checking they were the correct part (I'm going to blame the Olympic Hockey game for my lack of attention ;-).
Anyway - they were BCPR6ES - NOT BCPR6ES-11.
I just changed them back to the correct plugs. Initially, seems to be a little less *ticking*, but backfire still remains. Only started it up breifly in the garage. Would the engine have adjusted itself badly to the other plugs and have to re-adjust itself back...?
