Another question about limits of quick detailer

Hi,
Someone posted recently about possible abrasiveness when using a quick detailer when the car's grimy and I could use some advice on a similar topic.
I live in San Francisco and my car gets pretty wet most nights with the dense fog here. As such, dust and dirt get stuck to it when it's wet and then get dry on during the day when the moisture evapurates...so it's not the kind of loose stuff you can just dust off with a California duster. (I actually obtained a garage space recently and while that helps to have a roof over the car, the garage is open-air on one side so the elements still get in to some extent.)
Anyhow, do people feel I can just use a quick detailer when I get a coat of dried-on grime on the car?? We're not just talking removing a few dirty fingerprints here and there; when the car gets dirty the entire thing really needs to be wiped down. I guess I'm hoping that if I stay on top of it -- maybe 1-2 times per week -- that the grime won't build up to such an extent that it will become abrasive. Also, it seems like I'd need quite a few towels to go over the entire car if it's got a layer or dirt on it, so again, I didn't know if that was normal or if I'm trying to do too much with a quick detail.
Thanks so much for your advice.
