In continuing to prepare for the owners convention....I started to polish & wax my imola red '94T-conv. yesterday. I just bought a the porter cable 7424 as a kit with pads included from autogeek.net.
Admittedly, I have not taken care of the finish the past year as well as I used to aside from weekly washings...so the hood and trunk lid were looking pretty shabby.
Started with a dish detergent bath followed by a claying of the entire car. Then Einzett paint polish...not enough bite. Went one step further with the Einzett polish that is more aggressive than the regular paint polish. After getting to the backside of the learning curve with the PC (couple splatter incidents, speed settings, etc) all oxidation and spiderweb scratches are gone.
Topped the results with a coat of 3M glaze and then Blitz 100 grand carnuba. Was going to go with Klasse AIO then the sealant/glaze but I like how traditional products work on the red enamal better.
Point of the story is....no way I could have done this by hand. It took me around 3 hours as is to just do the hood and trunk lid! Still have the rest of the car to go...won't be as tough though...those were the worst areas.
Just another endorsement for the PC tool. What a great buy!
