The finish on these wheels is very tough to remove. The best way is to blast them with sodium bicarbonate or plastic. If the polished lip is really in bad shape then it has to be turned on a lath.Depending on what shape your wheels are in,I wouldn't try to make too much of a mess of them.Maybe you can re- spray the color and wet sand and polish and re -clear the polished lip.
Viking Wheel in Wilmington Delaware will completely refinish them but probably to the tune of 300 bucks a pop.
I have a set of '93 aero wheels that were pretty corroded polished lip wise but really not bad gray finish wise and I gooped them up with environmentally friendly paint remover from the Eastwood company and they are a mess now.It didn't really remove all the gray finish, just ruined it.
I can't really afford Viking so I am going to blast them and see what they look like then prime and spray and clear coat the whole mess.Good luck.
