Why are folks without garages allowed to view this board? That's just cruel! ... yet I still love TSN so much in spite of it all...

I stopped by Autozone to get some car-cleaning supplies - Mother's Cal Gold Clay bar, Meguiar's NXT "tech wax 2.0", Invisible Glass, and even some CRC MAF Sensor Cleaner! Washed with the Mr. Clean AutoDry system (already had that) and clay-bar'd my 9-5 for the first time (based on the product recommendations of all you awful people). I really love my car so much that I could just rub it all day, LOL. Anyway, considering I've had my 9-5 for two years, it hasn't accumulated as much "gunk" as I thought, but still a marked improvement. Followed the clay bar up with the "tech wax 2.0" and cleaned the glass right after. I'd post some photos, but I finished around 8pm and lighting wasn't so great. I'm gonna Rain-X or Aquapel it this afternoon. Why do I spend so much time, money, effort, etc on this car when I should be finding a house with a garage to keep it in instead?!

Anyway, the interesting thing I took away from the experience: I really focused a lot of effort on the front end, thinking this is where all the bugs and gravel and such are pelting my car at 75 mph all the time ... but I was surprised to find that the clay bar made the biggest improvement to the roof! Makes sense when you think about it, since my car is sitting many many more hours than it is actually driving.

And my follow-up questions: Is clay bar ok to use for the glass? I want to make sure that the glass is super-clean for when I rainx-aquapel-whatever this afternoon. The Invisible Glass did fine on the glass mostly, but the sunroof glass still doesn't look that clean. What else would you guys recommend? Just needs some more elbow grease? Put some Windex on it? (bad joke, sorry). Another thing: should I also clay-bar and/or wax plastic parts like the headlights, taillights or moldings?

I think that for now I'd get more out of detailing the interior - I wonder how long until my car is covered in pollen/birdcrap/waterspots/treesap. Maybe I'll be lucky and have it last for more than one day?!?
