There are a couple of nice places to go for nightlife. Gaslamp is good for tourists. I can reccommend Takas for suchi and Blue POint for Dinner in the area. After dinner, the Bitter End is usually pretty hoping and there is a place called the Vault (never been but supposed to be NYC-ish). Good Pool hall on Market (can not remember the name). If you come next weekend - there is street scene. Take over downtown with ten stages and such. Coronado is very nice. Drinks on the patio at the Del.

Other good areas - longboards in Pacific Beach - younger crowd (22-27 Years) and several other bars. Great Burger place in OB called Hodads on Newport (grab a burger and go to the pier). Still Racing season at Del Mar.

That's about it. one word of advice, if you go to TJ - go during the day (or better yet drive down the coast to ensenada). Daytime TJ is a bit tame, but still fun.
