My girlfriend has a 2002 VW Golf. The dealer has told her that the engine is absorbing oil. I have never, ever heard of something like this before. A few Saab mechanics that I know haven't either. Her owner's manual does say the the engine may absord small amounts of oil, but as it happens this car was fresh out of oil a few months and 1500 miles after an oil change. The car currently has 12,000 miles on it. I may buy that it's absorbing a small amount, but not 4 quarts. I went to check it two days ago and it was pretty low again. I suspect a leak or a slow burning that VW isn't willing to admit. Nonetheless I'm looking for a VW site that may be slightly as good as this site in helping with this issue.
