The stainless appliances are more of an alloy than most standard steel, hence the stainless part... I believe this is the reason the magnets dont stick as well. I have also found that since it is a polished material most magnets leave a mark on the surface. Be careful what you stick to it as it may leave a very hard to remove mark.

With a new Stainless kitchen, looks twice as nice, have to clean it three times as often... ;(
