Torque is a measure of force. Horsepower measures power over time. If one is concerned about a cars ability to apply a force to ones butt/back, then one talks of torque. However, if the argument is about speed, or the power being produced over time, then horsepower should be the focus. Also, it's better to produce torque at a higher rpm than at a low rpm, especially when one factors in the mechanical advantage gearing can give. This isn't to argue that the Acura is faster than the Aero - I don't know the gearing of Acura, nor do I know what rpms it achieves peak power - my only point is that your argument seems based on a misconception concerning torque and the ability to do work over time. The Acura may only have 238 ft-lbs of torque at 5000 rpm, and may have a little less at it's power peak, but when gearing is factored in, the torque at the drive wheels may be enough to make it close with the Aero. This isn't an argument for Acuras, nor against Aeros - I own a MapTuned modified '94 that'll smoke any stock TL - I just think the best argument against any vehicle vs. an Aero is the 'fun' factor. A Z06 'Vette would probably be more fun, but we're talking about family sedans here!
