Mind you, if they were used for VFA, I think they would have been VERY well taken care of, from a service point of view, and should have all got new clutches & brake jobs before being sold on. It should be possible to verify if this is the case. I don't think they would have been abused on VFA (someone who was there would know better than I do). The other possibility is that they were used for Technician Training, and worked on more than they were driven.
As for the '98 9000 that covered 400 miles in 3 years, I wonder if it was tied up in an estate for a long time? A friend of mine bought a Subaru once that had covered 22,ooo miles in 3 years, and 100 miles in the next 5, while it was tied up in an estate settlement. One thing to watch, if the car hasn't been driven in 3 years, seals, etc. may be dry as melba toast.
I think Wigwam sells a lot of new cars, possibly fleets. I remember once seeing on their website that they are the 4th largest SAAB dealer in the USA. They are also one of the older ones. Their facility is certainly not anything to get excited over, so their success has to be based on customer service, or price, or something else! If you call, ask for Donnie Gregson Jr., he's their Nordic Guru, and seems a very good guy. I think they would be up front about a car's story... I guess it doesn't hurt to try, though I doubt there are many takers for a $20,000 9000. CRS in Watertown also had a price '98 9000 recently, with a similarly low mileage, in black... I wonder if it's the same car? There can't be too many black '98 5 speeds left with 35,000 miles. There were only 1,300 '98 5 speeds sold in the USA, I can't imagine more than a couple of hundred in black.
