Tire date codes

I got Nokian WRs for winter/all season if I ever need to use. Two are dated 1504, two 3603. I remember reading somewhere than anything over one year is too old and should be avoided. Since I am not going to use these all year, I would have liked as fresh a tire as possible. Also, isn’t it better to have all four with the same date (or at least close to each other, a 9 month spread is a lot)?
I got them from a reputable dealer in a wheel/tire package. But they shipped across the country and it’s a holiday so there is no one to call up at the moment. Should I just use them and not worry or wait and complain? It’s raining anyway so there is no rush today, but I had hoped to deal with this over the weekend.
I am not sure what is reasonable to ask for since the shipping is so darn expensive. I didn’t think to specify anything regarding the tire age (thought of lots of things, but thought the place could handle this aspect correctly).
