Yeah... the dog version happened to me. It was pretty difficult to lock yourself out though, especially in comparison with other cars.
The newer 9000 is a different story. When they eliminated the hatch opening handle in favor of a button on the driver's door, they made it much easier. After a trip to the junkyard I opened the trunk with the key, picked up the nice 900 seat I found, plopped it and the keys into the trunk, and closed the hatch. *^%&!
After that experience I did a little hacking. I got a DPST momentary switch and wired it in parallel with the switch that is actuated by the key. I found a nice place to hide it. Now if I ever need to get into my car, key or no key, I just press the switch and the hatch opens. It has saved me a few times after closing the keys in the trunk.
