Although this 3800 is not considered high tech, I think GM's done a good job in squeezing power and economy out of the old push rod engine. I think the latest variety puts out 200hp/230 ft-lbs torque, yet delivering 20 city/30 highway. This is with proven reliability. Now, I'd like to see this engine blown, like GM did with Buick GNX (3.8l turbo charged). If my memory serves me correct, GNX did 5.1 sec to 60 and low 13's in q-mile. I know Honda's have better hp/displacement, but GM's 3800 is my favorite. And if GM puts 3800 engine in a Saab, I'd buy it in a heart beat, as this is probably the most reliable performance engine in GM's stable.
