what year, engine, mileage on your 9-5?
So you take your car to the dealer at every 12k for dealer recommended services? I never did when I drove new cars.
1992 GMC Jimmy (never had problems new to 50k miles when I traded it in)
1994 Chevy Camaro Z28 (never had problems new to 40k miles when I traded it in)
1994 Saturn SC2 (lots of little problems and traded it in at 12k miles)
1995 Pontiac Transport (about $300 worth of problems, new to 120k miles when I sold it)
1997 Chevy Blazer (never any problems new to 20k miles, when I sold it)
2000 Chevy Prism (No problems what-so-ever new to current 85k miles (Gave it to my sister))
2002 Pontiac Montana (Headgasket under warranty, new to current 35k miles, my wife's car).

On all these cars above, I NEVER took care of the cars like I do now for my Saabs. I ONLY took the above cars in when they had issues.

I NEVER paid any attention to recommended services at certain mileages on the above cars. May be I got lucky. But since driving Saabs, I make sure that the maintenance is done. Burned once is enough. (My nightmare with '96 NG900 SET). I now drive a '95 9000 Aero with 47k miles. I carry a full set of tools and of course, an extra DI cassette. :)

What can I say? Like I said before, I like driving Saabs. The repairs that I make are not expenses. They are investments. The Saabs taught me a lot about car repair and maintenance. :)

Cheers,

James from Michigan...
