I would have the boat inspected for rot and decay before spending money for an outboard, the boat may not be in usable shape. Although I am not a wood boat expert, I think you will want to sit the boat upright on shore and partially fill with water for a couple of days to make the boards swell. Then dump the water out and place the boat in the lake.
Assuming the boards have shrunk over time, failure to do this could result in the boat sinking to the bottom of the lake before you get a chance to use it.
My parents built a 12 foot wooden fishing boat back in the early 1950's. They used a 3-1/2HP Envinrude for power when not rowing. Electric trolling motors will be nearly silent, 4-stroke outboards are less noisy and cleaner than their 2-stroke counterparts. Also check engine restrictions for the lake(s) in which you intend to place the boat. There may be rules limiting your motor choices.
