SAAB TO DEVELOPE ELECTRICAL CAR
Saab automobile is developing an electrical/hybrid version from the 9-3 model. A prototype is expected this fall, so that it can be tested this coming winter.
The car is equipped with two engines, one for gas and one for electrical power, and is developed together with Lunds Technical University, writes Ny Teknik (new technology, a Swedish magazine).
Saab has also from the owner GM received a task to make one or more of the Concerns models to fit the hybrid system that GM has developed together with Daimler Chrysler. The system is first designed for the bigger rear wheel driven cars. The results of Saabs work could be an electric/hybrid car that fits the European market.
EVERYTHING COMPUTERIZED
-We don’t know which models it will be, but we are prepared and have the personal that can handle this complex work, says, project leader Tommy Lindholm at Saab to Ny Teknik.
Already in 2001 did Saab build an electric/hybrid version of the model 9-5. But it has happened many things since then.
-We have forcefully upgraded the system, we have all new components and have computerized everything, says Lindholm. Saab is also working on a “Green” car that can be driven both with gasoline or Ethanol or a mix of both.
