to make my 9000 Aero into a hybrid.
I think that it'd be cool for SAAB to put the electric motors to the rear wheels for:
1)improved economy, like other hybrids
2)an all-wheel drive option (Maybe a button that tells the motors to run for AWD regardless of the electric/gas demands of the driving) to compete with the likes of Volvo, Subie, Audi, and even BMW's 330/325Xi without the drawbacks of the full-time's additional fuel consumption (Due to the fact that both axles must be driven by the engine)
3) put an additional amount of HP to the ground. Most of us know that the 250HP in the Aeros today is pushing the limits of adhesion in a FWD car...this would help with keeping up with the high-strung competition from Germany.
The new Accord hybrid has a similar approach. Rather than reduce the size and output of the engine, they've simply supplimented power by adding motors and associated electrical wizardry.
The 2.3 liter HOTurbos made by Saab today are some of the most powerful, and highly efficient engines out there...imagine running on electricity in city driving, and getting highway MPG's (or better) everywhere!!!
Hmmm...maybe I'll look into putting a motor in the trunk of my 9000!...
