I think what SAAB needs in the US, and probably Europe, is a smaller, slightly less expensive car, that competes with the Audi A3 and BMW hatch in Europe, and the VW Golf in America. To add to the discussion further down below, realign MSRP's to something close to what SAAB actually sells cars for - not these pie in the sky prices they traditionally have. If SAAB had a 9-1 based on the GM Astra with 1.8 and 2.0 turbo engines, with MSRP under $20k and loaded 9-5 Aero's with sticker's under $40, SAAB would really be competing on price, and the preception that they have to be discounted by 25% in order to move would then go away.
