They had been rentals for awhile in 00 or 01, I forget if it was Enterprise or Thrifty. I remember I actually e-mailed them because the copy said 9-5 but the picture on the site was of a 9-3. Nobody ever got back to me, they probably filed it under 'enthusiast freak spam'.
I don't know if there was any benefit measured, since you still had to ask for it, they were in the luxo category. If you're thinking Saab could get a bump by pushing 9-3 conv's through Alamo (vs. the cav conv), I think that might be a good move, tho pricey.
Some of the indies/small chains probably rent Saab convertibles, too. I've rarely found any chain actually renting out the same thing they show on the site, it's always bait and switch...
In my case in PR last week, 'VW Golf or similar' ended up being a flaming orange Neon with the luxury bodycolor-keyed interior accents. I'd never misplace it, at least...
I've been taking trips to nowhere in the Aero all day, to help me remeber what it is to have things like more than 88 hp, brakes, rear windows that open, etc.
