Initially, when I saw the 9-7 at the auto show, I thought it looked nice, but to me was still a trailblazer in Saab's clothing.
Last week I was at the dealer having some small warranty issues taken care of on my '01 SE wgn, and they had just gotten in their demo 9-7 linear. One of my sales buddies asked if I had time to drive it. Of course I did. I was impressed with the interior. Although I was somewhat out of sorts with the window, etc. controls being on the driver's side arm rest instead of in the center console. I thought the ride was solid and smooth. Very quiet. Accelleration was as good as could be expected. Dare I say "a little peppy" for an SUV?
I think in next year's version they could do a lot more with the trunk area to accommodate various accessories and load carrying options.
It will be interesting to see how the reliability of the 9-7 is a few years down the road.
Thing one thing I just can't get past though is it's 100% american GM as far as I know. At least my 9-5s still came from Sweden.
