Our 1984 C900 finally left to be recycled (donated to Autos 4 Animals). Hasn't been on the road in 15 months, but we had it since new. Had other cars in the interim as well, but we never dreamed we'd have it for 21 years, almost 20 of them on the road. Neither of us commute so it just wasn't an issue. I've always run cars into the ground, via age or miles. When a lot of things died at once it was time to say good bye. But I realize this is *really* unusual.
Still, there aren't many new cars I'd buy to replace my 9K. In fact, I am thinking of buying the lowest mileage 97 or 98 I can find and storing it. I don't care about all the bells and whistles on newer cars. A nav system would be great, but I can buy a portable GPS system that I can take on trips and use in rental cars.
