biggest TV is a 20 year old 20" Sony.
We also have four computers on a network and each has a fast response 19" LCD monitor, which is as big as our 20" TV 8-). The kids mostly prefer watching their movies on their own computers, especially with friends coming over.
Our main TV sits in a shelf so it has little space for a much bigger one. The thing is that if we go to a 16:9 TV, it has to be more than 30"+ to give me about the same viewing size as a 20" (4:3) standard broadcast TV and I have to do a major revamp of the room, not to mention all the things that go with a HDTV setup.
If you have the room, I think a big LCD TV would be good but then you have to do the component video thing, i.e. you get the monitor (no TV tuner), cable or set-top box, your audio-video amps and surround speakers. Some LCD TVs do come in with built-in TV tuner etc..
It's a jungle out there and the price is still dropping. Once a upon a time, I was an audiophile, so there is no lack of audio amps and preamps lying around the house but then I have to add the video components plus I have to turn on a zillion things just to watch regular TVs....
I think I'll leave things be 8-).
Oh, Google "Olevia LCD TV", it's from a company called Syntax or something, they have relatively inexpensive LCD TVs, made in China of course. I think Radio Shack (and maybe other chain stores) carries them if you want to take a look. Of course you could order from the internet sight unseen if you are a gambling man.
Be sure to let me know what you end up, I may follow your lead.
