The SAAB torque curve is at full throttle when boost is at peak. If boost is not affecting output then SAABs are basically having a much lower amount of torque (and horsepower).
That's why when compared to a normally aspirated engine if both engines have 250 ft/lb of torque at 2000 rpm there is still turbo lag if one accelerates the turbo from a partial boost throttle position when compared to the normally aspirated engine.
A cool thing about a turbo is that under light boost it gets gas mileage like a small engine and when boosted it gets powere like a large engine.
