First time in England. First time with right hand drive, and the car was a stick. I thought I'd have trouble shifting with the left hand, but that turned out to be the easy part. I was impressed with how drivers stay in the left (slow) lane even on secondary roads, pulling into the right lane only to pass. At first, I had cars behind me in the right lane on these smaller roads, until I noticed what was going on. Of course, on the M roads, lane usage happens beautifully, and drivers on the far left lane going 50 or 60 mph coexist with those going much faster.
More recent trip was to Italy, and I also noticed good lane usage on the highways, but this did not extend to the secondary roads, as it did in England. I did witness some hairy close calls on two-lane roads, with other drivers passing. They seem to take more risks, or maybe they're more skilled, so they know more what they're doing. I'm not sure which.
