I thought he was running Saab USA. In otherwords, he is the U.S. representative and marketing guy basically.
Personally I am not so impressed with his efforts and the U.S. offering. Maybe that is why Europe is where the Saab growth is happening. Over there you can put together a car that would much more closely match my desire. For example, you can get the sport suspension on something other than the Aero (in fact from the Linear on up). Part of what attracts many of us to SAAB and other European cars is the handling and braking so to be able to extend the higher level of handling down the line is attractive. Heck and now you can only get such if you go with a V-6. Nothing wrong with having the V-6 in the lineup but given the SAAB history and $3.30 gas heck of a time to leave those who want something else out in the cold. That is just one example. Another would be the 9-5 is down to one trim level. Basically I guess they have decided it is just bidding time with that offering but these sort of things may be taking a simplified lineup (which I support to a point) to far.
Then there are those little dumb things that leave potential buyers scratching their head trying to understand and figure out how to deal with instead of doing a deal like no locking gas cap. This just dumbfounds many people and makes them wonder what else was left off and exactly what sort of product it is. Incidently I have seen some in (that appear to be in Europe claim) their 2006 9-3 has a locking gas cap (don't know if it is true but this is an issue that is just silly).
I suffice it to say I see room for improvement.
