Technically and legally here in US, a service performed at an indy shop (or yourself with paper proof) is good enough to still enjoy warranty coverage.
It might even be a good idea to have a new set of eyes check out the car before the warranty is over.
"Some dealers" tend to not "see" a covered repair in wait for the warranty to expire so that they can sell the repair to the custonmer instead (which pays better).
The 45K service is more or less and oil change and a full safety inspection of the car and rotate/balance tires.
But don't get tempted to have the oil changed at a quick lube place because that will do no good since they wouldn't know what problem spots to look for on a Saab anyway.
