I am not sure that you can do much about this. I can’t speak 100% for T-Mobile but most family plans technically require that all the phones be used in the same region. On the other hand, most companies will wave the termination if you move to a region without coverage. Perhaps you could split the family share plan into multiple separate plans by extending the contract, then change the billing location for the phones that have no service to the location that has no service, and then demand to cancel just those problem lines for free. You could also trying telling T-Mobile your plan and see if you can get them to save everyone some trouble and just let those lines go for free.
I don’t by their Alltel argument as Alltel is a CDMA carrier. T-Mobile uses GSM. Unless it is a physical equipment problem where the GSM stuff is not working on a shared Alltel tower, this is all just a story. If it is physical equipment, it is T-Mobile or their partners responsibility. There is no way a T-Mobile phone can roam onto Alltel’s network (unless it is a GSM/CDMA phone which is pretty rare). You might try posting about this on something like the Howard Forums site to see what others have to say.
