of protection. There might be a degree of protection (read your terms) BUT Credit and Debit are governed by two completely different set of rules and regulations. Debit is clearly inferior to CCs in many respects. CCs have stronger protection as a direct of regulatory rules not just issuer policy. With debit you may be sol where you'd have little hassel with a CC transaction/purchase gone bad.
Even if they were identical in protection, which they are not, clearly a CC would still be much prefered. With a CC you have an unpaid balance in dispute; with a DC you have money gone from your account in dispute which can take time to recover. Which situation would your rather be in? I don't understand why anyone bothers with debit cards at all.
