most of the premium rates have to do with lawsuits for bogus accidents.
IDK, 2 of the 3 times I had cars totaled the insurance companies offered me considerably less than they were worth...
I keep my vehicles in 100% condition, tires, brakes, and other maintenance, I should not be inconvenienced, by their customers lack of ability to drive a motor vehicle....
My Wife and I do not cause accidents. My wife drives almost 1000 miles a week, and the reason I drive saabs, and older saabs at that, is she puts 100k on in 2 years, I do not want a car payment on a car that will outlive a warranty in less than 2 years...
when other people inconvenience us, and the insurance companies lowball, it pisses me off.....
The last accident was by an uninsured driver, and our collision insurance paid for the accident...this time it was progressive, and they had an acceptable settlement in our hands within 48hrs. But I was prepared for battle, the car was a 90 900T with 300k, but it was a southern car with 100% no rust...I bought it for $1800 on ebay 18 months ago...I put maybe $200-500 into it, not counting tires...Progressive paid out $3200. this was fair, as I know the condition the car was in, and you could not touch a similar car for under $3000. I do emphasize NO RUST, anywhere...even underneath...car also used no fluids, I do not know its history, but with 8-10k syn intervals, the level would change less than 1/4 of an inch on the stick....I infact still have the motor and tranny, and will transplant it into another c900 if i find one needing a motor, transmission, or both.
